Patio Heater Maintenance

Inspect your patio heater components for any damage, rust or debris. Inspect the burner and surrounding area. Check gas fittings for leaks using a soap and water solution. Look for any damage to the supply gas line. Inspect the burner control valve and the gas lines connecting it to the burner. 

Spiders and insects: Before any reassembly after cleaning check for spider webs by inserting a pipe cleaner or similarly sized brush into the portholes of the burner and any openings to remove any webs. If you hear or smell gas and you're unable to ignite the burner, turn the gas off immediately and check the burner ports and openings for spider webs as they may have caused a blockage.

Clean out the base: remove any leaves, dirt or debris. Use a vacuum, broom or brush, large amounts of debris may create a fire hazard.

If equipped, inspect the battery used in the ignitor. Batteries should be replaced regularly to avoid leaking which can ruin your ignitor.

A dry patio heater is a happy one. Protect it with a good quality weather resistant cover and/or keep it sheltered when not in use.

Clean your patio heater at least a couple times a year to keep it looking good and performing well.
